The Land of Promise

“This is where we are right now, as a whole. No one is left out of the loop. We are experiencing a reality based on a thin veneer of lies and illusions. A world where greed is our God and wisdom is sin, where division is key and unity is fantasy, where the ego-driven cleverness of the mind is praised, rather than the intelligence of the heart.” Bill Hicks

The Land of Promise is a poetic photographic work on disillusionment, loss of hope and despair. It is a documentarist view on the 21st century, on the global, capitalist, consumer world. I document various phenomena and landscapes, from human-made artificial to natural, small scale to large scale including the different layers of our society. From mining to waste management, how we abuse our land and planet, the natural world in which we live. I work with a medium format camera and the images are shot onto Kodak colour negative.

Ongoing project since 2017.
